For most palletised and unitised loads, PET (polyester) strapping is the better choice: it is safer (no recoil or sharp edges), rust-free, recyclable, retains tension as loads settle, and typically lowers total cost. Steel still suits a few extremely heavy, rigid, high-temperature applications where raw break strength per width is the priority.

Choose PET strapping for the vast majority of palletised, bundled and export loads where safety, rust-free storage, recyclability and retained tension matter. Consider steel only for a narrow set of extremely heavy, rigid or high-temperature applications where maximum raw strength per width is essential.
